The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) manages the California state hospital system. DSH provides mental health services to patients admitted to one of our five facilities across the state, including Atascadero, Coalinga, Metropolitan (in Los Angeles County), Napa and Patton. The department strives to provide effective treatment in a safe environment and employs approximately 11,000 staff in the service of nearly 10,000 patients annually. DSH is a 24/7 hospital system supported by a $1.8 billion budget.
