Digital Xtra is a is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation which provides grants to schools and organisations across Scotland to boost interest in computing and technology among young people aged 16 years and under. Grants are awarded for innovative and exciting extracurricular activities that engage young people and teach skills such as coding, data science or cyber security as well as creativity and resilience. Since its inception in 2016, the Fund has supported 80 initiatives and helped engage over 38,000 young people in technology.
At a time when the Scottish digital technologies industry is growing and seeing increasing demand for employees with high level digital technology skills, there is clear evidence that the talent pipeline in Scotland needs to expand to meet this demand. Digital Xtra Fund's goal is or every young person in Scotland to have access to innovative and digitally creative activities regardless of their gender, background, or where they live.
