On June 22, 2017, 40 players took to the ice at HarborCenter in Buffalo, NY in an attempt to set the world record for the longest continuous ice hockey game. For 11 days they lived onsite, playing continuously in 4 hour shifts, and raising more than $1 million for research programs at Roswell Park. After the incredible success of 2017, Mike and Amy knew that the 11DPP had to continue. And the community as a whole needed to play. The Community Shift was born and has grown to more than 2,300 pairs of skates hitting the ice, in 3 hour shifts over this 11-day hockey game. In 2021, Mike and Amy decided to again attempt the Guinness World Record. In the face of COVID-19, along with the #Frozen40 players, nearly 1,000 Community Shift Invitational players, they raised $2 million for cancer causes in WNY, and officially set the Guinness World Record for Longest Continuous Ice Hockey Game at 252:00:46! In just 5 years, the 11DPP raised more than $7 million for cancer causes in WNY!
