Future State is a creative duo located in the Blue Mountains, NSW, blending Trip-hop, Modern Pop and elements of Jazz. Drawing inspiration from artists like Florence and the Machine, Portishead, and Massive Attack, they are constantly challenging themselves to step outside of their creative comfort zone. Ally Oliver brings her love of Folk songwriters and Alt-Pop powerhouses and lends it to Stuart Cam’s dark electronic production, built up over years of DJing in Bristol’s thriving Drum & Bass scene, self-taught production, and his love of analogue synthesizers. Most recording and all mixing is done at their own Future State Studios, where they often invite local Katoomba musicians to add their talents and flare to different tracks, creating a range of different sounds and styles.
