The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy (Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine), led by conductor Major Erik van de Kolk, is one of the leading professional military bands in the Netherlands. The band’s main responsibility is the musical accompaniment of military ceremonial events for the Royal Family, Government and the Royal Netherlands Navy, often performing alongside the Drums and Fifes of the Netherlands Marine Corps. Renowned for its versatility, the orchestra excels in a wide range of genres—from classical symphonic wind music and big band jazz to intimate ensembles and high-energy covers. The band has gained international acclaim through numerous recordings and performances at major military tattoos worldwide. Beyond its ceremonial duties, the Marine Band is dedicated to veteran tributes, educational programs, and benefit concerts across the globe. As is the motto of the Netherlands Marine Corps: Qua Patet Orbis, ‘As far as the world extends’.
