While clearing my arctic during the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020, I came across some very old vinyls I had saved from a flood disaster in Nigeria in the late 1980s. My face lit up as I began to play the 45 rpm singles and the 33 1/3 rpm albums and mediums (they are called EPs now!) . The music are from the more popular artists like Fela Ransome-Kuti (before he became Fela Anikulapo Kuti!), Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Haruna Isola etc. and from internationally lesser known artists like Suberu Oni, Kasumu Adio, Fatai Rolling Dollars. The cracks and the sometimes hissing sounds brought me back to my youth and the feeling of nostalgia was overwhelming. Some of the records date back to the early 1960s. Important information is missing on some of the vinyls because of the flooding I mentioned earlier. I decided to digitalise the old vinyls so that they can be enjoyed by other people for whatever reasons now and in the future! Enjoy and hit the subscribe button!
