ERA-Net NEURON supports basic, clinical and translational research in the diverse fields of disease-related neuroscience. Ministries and funding organisations across Europe, and other countries, joined forces to conquer diseases of the brain and the nervous system. Brain diseases are major causes for impaired quality of life and are an increasingly heavy burden on patients, their families and our society. ERA-NET NEURON supports research directed at a better understanding of brain diseases and their progression in order to pave the way for new or improved diagnosis and therapy. Besides funding research projects, NEURON supports training of scientists, promotes early-career researchers, encourages patient engagement and performs outreach activities to various key stakeholders, including the public.
