Welcome to Akiko Tsuruga's official channel! 🎹 At three years old, an organ arrived at my home, inspiring me to start taking Organ lessons. Raised in Osaka, Japan, I graduated from Osaka College of Music and began performing locally. During this time, I met the legendary Grady Tate, who was in Osaka performing with jazz organ giant Jimmy Smith. This encounter inspired me to move to New York City in 2001. In 2006, I joined Lou Donaldson’s Quartet, where he honored me as “The Queen of the Organ.” Since then, I’ve released 11 albums in Japan and the US, leading my own quartet while performing with the Jeff Hamilton Organ Trio and The Clayton Hamilton Orchestra. My journey reflects a deep passion for the Hammond organ and a dedication to sharing soulful, vibrant jazz music with audiences worldwide.
