From 1977 to 1999, Mike Turner was the program director of Cranbrook's Community Programming Channel, Cable 11. Originally owned by Cranbrook Television Ltd., Shaw Cable Systems bought them out in the early 1990's. By the end of the decade, Shaw decided to relocate and they didn't see a purpose in keeping the video tape library of historic keepsakes Mike had been saving for 20 years. Between the collection Mike kept at home, along with the tapes that were saved from the dumpsters, we believe we have about 1000 hours of historic video to share.
Gord Clark was one of Mike's Cable 11 volunteers over a 15 year period, starting in 1980. Gord created the look and feel for Retro Cranbrook and designs all the clips you see before and after the feature videos.
Our newest team member, Carolyn Martens, is a former Kimberley resident who now hails from Edmonton. Carolyn shares the video editing responsibilities with Gord and has been an absolute blessing to the team.
