Michael started his professional career as Michael St James with his band The Park, signing his first record deal when he was 19 years old. After touring with 10cc, Michael parted from Phonogram and his band, securing solo deals with Warner Brothers and EMI. He moved to Paris and toured internationally with French star Julien Clerc writing Julien’s first English album collaborating with other French writers including Serge Gainsbourg. In August 1991 after a near fatal car crash Michael changed his name, career and trained at The Lee Strasberg Studio. Michael made his West End debut in 'Blood Brothers' and went on to star in Ben Elton’s Rod Stewart musical 'Tonight’s The Night', for which he was nominated Best Actor in a Musical. As well as acting in the production of double Olivier winning musical 'Crazy For You’, his other theatre work includes Irvine Welsh’s 'Creatives and Roaring Trade'.
