Writing/performing music since '99, brothers Brendan and Trev formed the 3-piece alt-folk rock group Function For Fiction in 2009. Starting as a collection of castaway basement musicians in North Jersey, they found common ground in their appreciation of eclectic music and road trips. During the early years, they ran a luncheonette while moonlighting at clubs and venues on the Lower West Side.
Recently, they have been performing locally, showcasing their unique style of music which fuses intricate song structures and thoughtful lyrics. Incorporating variable time signatures and counterpoint melodies, the songs sound deceptively simple while maintaining unassuming complexities.
Now hailed as "Mom and Dad's favorite band" by Best Boys Magazine, Function For Fiction have released 3 studio albums, as well as dozens of live singles on Youtube. "Pretty good" - happy listener, bar patron.
