The ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health, based at King’s College London, was established in 2020 to conduct innovative research on the impacts of social change on mental health. The overarching goal of the Centre is to advance our understandings of how social, economic, and cultural transformations affect mental health and, from this, inform and advocate for social policies, community practices, and interventions that can prevent and mitigate mental distress, particularly in vulnerable and marginalised populations. Our vision is to deliver research that promotes and sustains good mental health in communities. In achieving this, the Centre is committed to research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, working in full partnership with affected communities, and developing the next generation of research leaders.
