It all started in 1993, buying an oem Sound Blaster sound card in a blank cardboard box at a discount computer store and then being introduced to FM synthesis with the Sugar Plum Fairies song featured with the Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 demo. Enjoyed it for a while then retired it for newer gear. Flash forward to 2018 searching for that demo on Youtube and instantly regretting junking my old hardware. In 2019 I started searching for a Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 ISA card and some way of giving it life, which lead me to meeting some really cool people and acquiring too many old machines (but I love them all). It's surprising how many people share this nostalgic interest, but if you were around in the 90s it definitely was an exciting time if you could ride the wave. In my videos I will share what I've learned about these machines and most importantly, play the music I always wanted to create back when I first heard that captivating Opl3 chip, when I had no idea what "FM synthesis" even was.
