Welcome to the VCA Student Film Archive: discover the art of the possible. The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (VCA) Film and TV archive is a cultural treasure of information, sound, stories and images of Australian life and film history. It is a living audiovisual record of student films dating back to 1966, since the early days of the Swinburne School of Film & Television. Since this time, we have amassed hundreds of short films which reflect a huge cross section of Australian daily life and film culture. In 2016, the VCA funded the digitization of the first 50 of the school’s most celebrated and culturally engaging films. With the support of Film Victoria and a cultural partnership with ACMI and The University of Melbourne Student Services Amenities Fund, we are now releasing more films exploring various themes and issues that showcase the depth and breadth of the collection. The full collection of audiovisual films is available for research purposes via our own University platform.
