Box Rocks first started on the Bank Holiday Monday 30th May 1994 at The Queens Head in Box, Wiltshire. Hence the name - Box Rocks.
A group of like-minded musicians, after a few drinks of course, thought it would be a good idea to get a few bands, lots of alcohol and a local charity together, and perform on the roof overlooking the gardens and car park at The Queens Head.
After the first few years we were advised that putting musicians and alcohol 8 feet in the air was not the best idea, so we move the stage into the garden at ground level.
The event was moved to the August Bank Holiday Monday back in 2002, due to the Queen's Golden Jubilee. Also, at this time and because of its popularity and growing audience, we decided to move the stage into the car park where there was room for a bigger stage and larger viewing area. This saw the advent of the format that we use today: 8 bands over 8 hours and finishing with a bit of a show.
The show was first provided by rock legends The Crinklies,
