I'm passionate about INCLUSION because I know first hand the devastating effects of exclusion and bullying. How? Because I’m the mother of a child with autism, one who struggled with social interaction. Just because a child struggles with social interaction, does not mean they don't want a friend. Social exclusion and bullying can have lifelong consequences, it's time to create a society where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Dream with me, what would this society look like? My Vision with MATES is to empower youth and to foster leadership so they can be agents of change in their communities, so they can implement real social justice, not just talk about it. Imagine a world where difference is celebrated, where our youth take social responsibility seriously and embrace those who need social support.
