Advanced Robotics & Automation (ARA) Lab — University of Nevada, Reno
Founded in July 2014 by Dr. Jim (Hung) La, the ARA Lab advances autonomous and intelligent systems from core algorithms to field-ready prototypes. Our mission is to discover, develop, and implement innovative methods and hardware for robotics and automation across real-world applications.
Locations: ARF 118, ARF 120, SEM 211, and WPEB302.
Capabilities & equipment: drones and mobile robots (including Seekur Jr and steel-bridge climbing robots), ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electrical resistivity probes, Eddy Current sensor, laser scanners, LiDAR, high-accuracy NovAtel DGPS, etc.
Research focus: field robotics, autonomous systems, multi-robot systems, control systems, human-robot collaboration.
We welcome motivated students and collaborators interested in these areas.
