Our grand lady, the PLAT (Pontiac’s Little Art Theatre) was born in 1868. In 2013, K and R Studios came to Pontiac, MI, purchasing the building. The vision began. K and R Studios, a historical restoration company, saw what was beneath the veneer. The painstaking process to remove the false “face” placed on this beautiful building and stripping her down to her bones, inside and out, took place. Her beauty was revealed and lovingly restored.
The philosophy of bringing the arts back to a community, assisting in the revitalization of an area, was well known to the owners of K and R Studios. The space, the building itself, and the arts seemed a natural fit. The vision has blossomed into a 100+ seat intimate theater setting mainly for performance art. The beauty of its open-floor concept is the ability for the PLAT to be utilized in many different fashions.
