One in three Canadians will experience a neurological condition or mental illness in their lifetime. Recognizing the prevalence of mental health and neurological diseases that affect Canadians across the country, the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) focuses specifically on developing prevention strategies, diagnostic methods and therapies for treatment.
With the Faculty of Medicine’s Dr. David Park as Scientific Director, the uOBMRI brings together basic scientists and clinical researchers to advance the care and recovery of brain and mind functions across the lifespan.
Illnesses such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, depression, dementia and neuromuscular degeneration are the research focus for the uOBMRI as teams of scientists and clinicians collaborate closely to bridge research outcomes with patient care.
