I'm Dr Katerina Johnson, a biologist from the University of Oxford and a science communicator. I actively engage with the media and press, and I also love speaking to live audiences! This is where I add my videos from TV and radio interviews, as well as public talks.
I love all of biology, in all its complexity and ingenuity… and I also love researching, talking and writing about it! Nothing’s too complex, it’s all in the way you explain it, and I believe anything can be understandable, engaging and fun! I particularly enjoy talking about scientific findings that have the potential to widely affect our lives or with implications for understanding the nature of who we are.
My main interest is the gut–brain connection and my PhD focused on the science of ‘that gut feeling’ where I studied the interactions between our gut microbes and the brain and behaviour. I also have a broad knowledge of biology with my research spanning fields such as animal behaviour, neuroscience and evolution.
