Hi, I’m Melissa! I’m 43 years old and live in the Canadian prairies. Here, I share my deeply personal journey through protracted withdrawal and severe adverse reactions to antidepressants and benzodiazepines. These medications left me with akathisia, a debilitating movement disorder, and plunged me into unimaginable mental torment — including severe looping intrusive thoughts, tactile hallucinations, and what felt like living through a nightmare while fully awake. I also endured dozens of other hellish symptoms I never experienced before these drugs. Today, after years of suffering, I am about 95% recovered. My mission is to raise awareness about this silent epidemic and offer hope, support, and light to those facing the isolation and darkness that withdrawal and adverse reactions can bring.
