Drawing on the revived folk traditions from England and the USA, Sam brings together a stripped-back simplicity, an effortless fingerstyle technique, and his warm baritone. His lyrics range from the most public and political events of our time to the most private, timeless moments.
His influences include 13th-century troubadours, contemporary choral music, Ernest Hemingway, and Laura Marling (to name a few). But above all, his music is imbued with the landscape and climate of his native South West.
He has been hailed as 'the voice of a generation', although that guy was pretty drunk at the time, so I wouldn't take that at face value.
