Fidelma Healy Eames was first elected to Seanad Eireann (Labour Panel) in July, 2007. On entering the Senate, she was appointed the Fine Gael Seanad spokesperson on Education and Science. In 2011, she was appointed the Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Social Protection and member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs and the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Science. She was returned three times to represent the Irish people in local elections in 2004 and for the Seanad in 2007 and 2011. Fidelma Healy Eames, Ph.D., was elected to Galway County Council at her first local elections in 2004, Fidelma stood for the Fine Gael Party in her first general election in 2002.A graduate of Carysfort College, Blackrock, Western Connecticut State University in US, and NUI, Galway, Fidelma holds B.Ed., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees respectively.
