The YPA is Australia's premier national young artist development programme. Since its inception in 1944 and over its long history the YPA has been presented in many formats.
In 2017 the ABC Young Performers Awards (YPA) will return to the Australian musical calendar, following a joint agreement between the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Symphony Australia and the Music & Opera Singers Trust Ltd (MOST®). The ABC Young Performers Awards (YPA) was developed in 1944 as an Australian state-based competition run by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) supported state symphony orchestras. Since 1997, the YPA has grown under the stewardship of Symphony Australia, further establishing the reputation of the competition as a launching pad for international careers.
