Winner of a LUKAS Award for Jazz in Europe, Alex Wilson is a British/Swiss pianist, firmly rooted in the genres of World Music, Jazz and Latin. Born in the UK of mixed English/African parentage and was brought up in the UK, Sierra Leone, Austria and Switzerland, Alex began his career receiving a BBC Jazz Rising Star award and went on to perform with Wynton Marsalis, Ernest Ranglin, Courtney Pine, Hugh Masakela (RIP) and was musical director/arranger for Rodrigo y Gabriela and their CUBA project. He led a collaboration with Malian griot Madou Sidiki Diabaté and Ahmed Fofana on the award-winning Mali Latino project and has co-written books with Omar Puente and Seckou Keita.
