My dad was a professional musician and got me in the Musician's Union at age 17 and I haven't stopped making music. As a senior at Rutgers, jazz great Donald Byrd came in to form the Rutgers Jazz Ensemble and he challenged us to write our own material. I took him up the offer, crediting Donald Byrd with inculcating my love of big band arranging! In the mid 70s, I became Larry Elgart's regular bassist & arranger. Freelancing thereafter, I had the opportunity to work with Sammy Davis Jr.; Ed McMahon; Bob Hope; Gene Barry; Frank Gorshin; Julius LaRosa; Henny Youngman; Helen O’Connell; Joanie Sommers; Marilyn Michaels, to name just a few. I has written big band charts for The Airmen of Note, Jimmy Sturr, Warren Covington BB and the Pete Cater BB in England. In all, I has penned well over a 100 big band charts and scores of small combos pieces, from sax quartets to string ensembles; taking joy in my art form, selling to bands as far away as Japan, Germany, England, Canada & Australia.
