Ourida is a French Algerian singer / songwriter who plays piano. Her urban songs are radically personal. They mix the grooves and beats of jazz and pop to the tribal melodies of popular music. The lyrics are as direct as the images of a movie and each show is a trip. Ourida has performed solo, in duos, trios and quartets, with numerous musicians and instruments. She has played in many settings – from intimate stages to the huge Fete de l’humanite.
Born in Paris, she has experienced a special connection with Marseille, Rio de Janeiro and Montreal, and she now lives in Brooklyn.
New York City has added alternative rock, soul and trip hop to the mix. A major encounter with Jonathan Levy on bass – the high www.jonathan-levy.com, and Joe Hertenstein on drums – the ground joehertenstein.tumblr.com, has given her music a unique sound.
