Archbishop Fulton John Sheen (1895–1979) was one of the most influential Catholic preachers, authors, and media personalities of the 20th century. He was born on May 8, 1895, in El Paso, Illinois, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1919 for the Diocese of Peoria. Gifted with both intellectual brilliance and a charismatic presence, Sheen quickly became known not only as a theologian and philosopher but also as a master communicator of the Catholic faith. Sheen earned a doctorate in philosophy at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium and later became a renowned professor of philosophy and theology. His academic background, combined with his ability to explain complex religious truths in simple and inspiring ways, made him stand out as a teacher and evangelist.
