The Edmonton Youth Choir is one of Canada’s leading youth choirs. Conducted by Andrew and Samara Bortz, this auditioned mixed-voice ensemble brings together singers in grades 8 through 12. Choristers develop strong musical skills through engaging, fast-paced weekly rehearsals that include diverse SATB repertoire, music theory, and age-appropriate vocal technique.
EYC performs regularly across Edmonton, collaborates with leading arts organizations, and attends an annual retreat at Camp Nakamun. The choir also tours nationally and internationally, with tours to Germany, Wales, England, Estonia, Finland, Peru, Latvia, China, South Africa, Scotland, Cuba, and Ottawa—Italy is next in 2026. EYC has competed successfully in festivals across Canada and Europe, has been featured nationally on CBC Radio, and has released six recordings.
Above all, EYC fosters a vibrant, inclusive community where young singers build confidence, form lasting connections, and cultivate a lifelong love of music.
