There is more to science than complex information and mad scientists who mix chemicals in the lab. Science is an exciting way to view the world, to learn how to predict events, and to improve our society. Our modern world revolves around science and technological discoveries. We all benefit when we know what science is, how it works, and how to think critically. Professor Claudia Vanessa Garcia from the Entering Student Program at UTEP wanted to personalize the lives of scientists while encouraging her students to be inspired by the field of study, so she created a class and a video series called “Science is Not Just for Geeks.” The first videos in this series were produced by Academic Technologies as part of Professor Garcia’s participation in their TeachTech program.
