Orchestrion Style Music made on a Mac in Garageband.
I have always had a fascination with mechanical musical instruments, not only the genius of the mechanics, but the intriguing musical arrangements as well. Since these wonderful devices are large, expensive, and difficult to maintain, I discovered it was possible to render an imitation of sorts utilizing GarageBand on my Mac. The first attempts used the sound fonts available with the program (synthesizer like) until I found a few fonts that came close to the instruments a generic type of orchestrion; flute, reed, diapason, bell, drum, etc. Each arrangement is done in the "editor" of the program, note by note, like the arrangers did with paper and pencil drawing lines. This method works well for me since I do not read or write music notation.
