About Christie:
Christie is a composer and performing musician who was born deaf and started off their journey through music with the piano at the age of seven. By the age of eleven, they had written a handful of short pieces. Being largely self-taught, they were discovered by a churchgoer during a private sight-reading exercise and entered the local spotlight as a secondary church pianist at the age of fifteen, shortly after they had gained the ability to hear. From there, their journey took a leap forward.
Some highlights of Christie's journey include:
• Church music director, 2011-2018
• Alto soloist in college choral performances of selections by J.S. Bach, Mozart, and others.
• Transcription and arrangement of selected pieces, both classical and contemporary
• Ability to play multiple instruments, including mallet percussion, violin, and ocarina
