Tornado 5 was a a Philadelphia-based alternative rock band that existed from 1987-1991. Originally known as The Unmentionables (but changed their name early on), the band's members were Keith Marlowe (guitar), Suran Song (vocals), Joel Breen (bass) and Andy Shahan (drums). Tornado 5 broke up just before the release of their first vinyl single but they had several independently produced cassette tapes. Tornado 5 were regulars on the Philly club scene at Khyber Pass, JC Dobbs, Tops, Bacchanal, and the Trocadaro. They also played in New York at CBGBs and Kenny's Castaways. You can see Tornado 5's Facebook and Soundcloud pages for more info on the band. After Suran Song left the band in 1991, the remaining members continued as a power trio called Tornado 6, which broke up in 1992. Currently, Tornado 5 member Keith Marlowe fronts Philly based alt country band, The Miners. See links for The Miners website and Facebook page.
