Javier Diaz is a percussionist living in New York City. He has played with Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Harry Connick Jr., David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Pedro Martinez, Michel Legrand, Sean Kingston, Lázaro Galarraga, Román Diaz, The New York World Music Institute, Kalunga and the Ara Oko Folkloric Group. He has performed in many Broadway productions including The Lion King, In The Heights and Tarzan. Mr. Diaz is also well versed in the Classical Percussion genre and has appeared with several symphony orchestras and chamber music groups. He has lectured on Afro-Cuban percussion at The Juilliard School, Rutgers University, Paws Music Institute in Los Angeles, the Peabody Conservatory, The Boston Conservatory and New York University. Mr. Diaz has taught classical percussion at the world famous Sistema of Youth Orchestras in Venezuela and at the University of Connecticut. He received his B.M. from the University of Southern California and his M.M. from The Juilliard School.
