Tim Maiden wrote Love Songs in LA during a season of personal and creative expansion. He’d moved into a house at the mouth of the Laguna Canyon, his wife had given birth to their second child, and he’d found a new collaborator in Defected Records DJ/ producer Le Chev.
The music from this vibrant time blends Maiden's love for the rich musical history of Laurel Canyon with the gospel roots of his childhood, all shaped by a modern pop sensibility. The album captures the spirit of a romantic, with lyrics that reflect a deep connection to our complex world.
The ten tracks, written by Maiden at his Steinway, were recorded at Le Chev's Casita Studios. The vocals radiate California soul, while the production draws on funk and disco influences. The imprint of Elton John and Tom Petty is undeniable, yet Maiden's sound remains distinctly his own. "Love Songs in LA is the purest reflection of my love for making music," Maiden says.
