Crow Homestead is a smallholding in the soft rolling green hills of the beautiful Cotswolds region of Central England.
We raise goats & chickens and we grow various hardy perennials.
We live in a recently built 1000 sq ft high tech one-bedroom eco house.
We designed the house and project managed the build.
The house is a conversion of a modern metal agricultural barn.
An experimental WikiHouse build method was used - where the house components were computer-cut off-site.
The build involved the assembly of thousands of Lego-kit style components.
The frame was built in three days, and we moved in about three months later.
The design includes substantial thermal & acoustic insulation.
A fridge sized air source heat pump provides warm air heating & the hot water.
We are NOT off-grid.
The house style is industrial chic - with all the services (water, air, electrictity) visibly mounted on the walls internally.
The place is a bit like a submarine engine room ... but it suits us!
