Southern Rising is a symphonic black metal band from Montevideo, Uruguay. Formed in early 2020, their style and sound takes modern black metal elements combined with classical full orchestra passages and choral music arrangements. Although the project is somehow new, band members are very experienced well known musicians of the local scene, coming from legacy bands from the 90s such as Requiem Aeternam, Zenith, Angkor-Vat, among others. Their first single: Somniphobia, was introduced on February 2020, as an advance of their upcoming album. Epic Tales of Evil is their debut album (LP), released on October 31st, 2020. Its content has a mixture of pure symphonic black metal pieces, in combination with a cinematic-style story around the album.
