Jen Awad is a Los Angeles born Peruvian and Egyptian soul singer with the emotional depth of Nina Simone and the raw power of Brittany Howard. She leads Valley of the Dolls, a psychedelic cabaret so desired that people have hidden in car trunks to get inside. Performing with her full twelve piece band, Awad’s shows are known for turning entire rooms into believers, often ending with strangers shouting the lyrics to her cult classic Basic Bitch.
Her debut album Existential Daydream is a seventies glam soul record that reflects chaos, heartbreak, growth, and the beauty found in survival. She is now collaborating with Emmy winning composer Will Bates on cinematic songs with the spirit of Shirley Bassey, written with the intention of living on the stage, on the screen, and in the hearts of those who need them. Between recording sessions she performs at private venues like Petit Ermitage and Andy’s, events that circulate quietly by word of mouth.
