Founded in 1957, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is the largest symphonic performing arts organization in Northern Virginia, playing a central role in the region’s cultural and civic life. Each season, the FSO serves more than 15,000 people through its diverse performances and education programs. The FSO performs at the George Mason University Center for the Arts and Capital One Hall, featuring a roster of more than 70 professional musicians, with one-fourth active-duty or former members of the United States national military bands.
