The Kampala Jazz Orchestra (KJO) is a vibrant ensemble of 18 highly talented musicians, led by the experienced band/orchestral conductor, Polycarp Kyagulanyi. Since its establishment on January 18, 2022, the orchestra has rapidly become a leading force in Uganda's jazz music scene.
KJO brings together talented young musicians from Kampala and Uganda to perform and promote the vibrant tradition of Jazz especially Afro Jazz, while providing educational opportunities and supporting the growth of the local music community."
KJO also aims to combine Ugandan music’s rich traditions with jazz's artistry, resulting in a unique fusion that delights audiences with its innovative sound. Through their music, the orchestra seeks to showcase the beauty and diversity of Uganda's musical heritage while pushing the boundaries of jazz as a global art form. With dedication, we create a harmonious blend of traditional and modern styles.
