Welcome to ACXIS (Autonomous Control, Exploration, Intelligence, and Systems) Lab at UIUC.
Our goal is to establish theoretical foundations for the END-TO-END design and operation of trustworthy autonomous systems, with applications to aerospace/robotic autonomy. We thereby envision a world where anyone can follow their curiosity and turn their imagination into reality to the full extent and beyond, regardless of the physical, intellectual, and temporal constraints inherent to humans.
Dr. Hiroyasu Tsukamoto, the director of ACXIS Lab, is an incoming assistant professor of Aerospace at UIUC and a Research Affiliate at the Robotics Section of NASA JPL. He is the recipient of the Caltech Vougut Fellowship and the William F. Ballhaus Prize for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in Space Engineering, GALCIT, Caltech. He has participated in the Science-Infused Spacecraft Autonomy for Interstellar Object Exploration and the Multi-Spacecraft Technology Demonstration Project at NASA JPL.
