Echo Lanterns was formed in 2024 by lead vocalist Albert Liu and lead guitarist Justin Jen. Their name is inspired by their shared East Asian heritage - a symbol of letting go of the past and embracing new beginnings. Trained at Berklee College of Music, the duo blends their roots in alternative rock and indie pop with themes of familial and cultural dynamics.
Albert, formerly known as LostBoy Kujo, and Justin, previously Majuro, first connected over their love for 90s-2000s alternative rock and released their first collaboration, an EDM track titled "You Can, I Can," under Cowboy Club. In 2025, bassist Alan Wong joined the group.
Driven to amplify Asian American representation in music, Echo Lanterns channels emotional vulnerability into their work, breaking stereotypes and inspiring listeners to embrace their unique identities.
