Music plays an important role in the daily life at Morpeth, with all pupils being encouraged to participate in music-making and fostering musical ability at the highest level. The department has recently become a "Champion School" for Musical Futures with KS3 following this learning method. With concert bands, an orchestra, small chamber ensembles, rock bands, choirs, numerous music projects with outside agencies and more than 22 specialist music staff, the Music Department is one of the busiest and liveliest in the borough. Housed on the ground floor of North Wing the department boasts two classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards,1 large ICT room with 20 imacs using Reson, Logic, Sibelius and Garage Band, 6 practice rooms, a recording studio with live room and control room, a world music room, DJ room, band room and ample storage space.
