Gary Young - Tennis Professional
Gary began playing tennis at the age of 4 at the Los Angeles Tennis Club were he was coached & mentored by the pioneers of the open era; including Jack Kramer, Bobby Riggs, Pancho Gonzales, Tony Trabert, Rod Laver, and Pancho Segura. After a junior career in tennis, and then professional surfing in Hawaii Gary began teaching tennis full time in 1974 at the La Costa Hotel & Spa alongside stepfather and tennis Hall of Fame world champion Pancho Segura until 1994. There he worked with future champions Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Aaron Krickstein & other notable juniors. Retiring from tennis in 1994 he became a licensed real estate appraiser and then spent 18 years in equity marketing, Gary returned to tennis in 2009 devoted to ‘Advanced Junior Development’. Gary has been a USPTA/RSPA certified professional & USTA safe play approved coach since 1985. He is available for lessons at 2 private Clubs in Encinitas & Carlsbad in North County San Diego.
