Days on Land, a new indie folk-rock band from the remote town of Churchill, Manitoba, is stepping onto the national stage with their first single “Bear 33”, out September 11, accompanied by a locally shot music video. Known for its polar bears, Belugas, and scientific research, Churchill is now home to a band that turns northern life into music.
The name Days on Land comes directly from Churchill's unique place in the world. With so much climate science based here, researchers use a simple but sobering metric to gauge polar bear survival: the number of days they’re forced to spend on land due to melting sea ice — days on land. The band takes that idea and flips it into a celebration of the north — its beauty, its fragility, and the people who call it home.
“Bear 33” single + video Sept 11 and performs live at Harvest Moon Festival Sept 13–15
