Education shapes what we come to understand as normal. From classroom routines to discipline policies, schools play a powerful role in defining intelligence, behavior, and belonging. Educational leadership is about responsibility. Transforming school culture requires courage, critical reflection, and a willingness to question practices we’ve been taught to accept as neutral or effective. Educational equity is about responding to historical and systemic harm with intention and care. Equity-centered practice requires educators to examine bias, interrogate power, and prioritize relationship over control. Educators must equip Black and Brown students with the skills to articulate their thinking, advocate for themselves, and navigate everyday anti-Blackness without being forced to silence who they are. Education In Context invites educators and leaders to question what we’ve normalized in schools and reimagine learning spaces rooted in dignity, accountability, and liberation.
