The Alliance for Community Action is an NGO whose main objective is to grow accountability in the manner in which public resources are managed by government in Zambia. Importantly, it seeks to institute the demand for accountability in the general public. That is to say the ACA would like to see members of the general public routinely engaging government on the choices and decisions it makes regarding public money. In this regard, the organisation trains media actors, civil society as well as ordinary citizens to understand why and how they can speak about the service delivery issues that affect communities. The organisation does this by training the various groups in basic but sufficient detail how government manages public money and helps people to link that to their own community’s welfare. In the training, specific emphasis is directed at strengthening journalists’ understanding of public resource management processes.
