NFTE's (pronounced "nifty") mission is to provide entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low income communities. The goal is to empower young people, many of whom struggle in school, to change their lives through entrepreneurship education. NFTE Bay Area began operations in 1994 through a generous start-up grant from The William H. Donner Foundation. Since then, we have taught more than 8,500 students from San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Lake, Sacramento and Santa Cruz counties the basics of starting and operating a small business. The success of our programs has been achieved through productive partnerships with schools and community-based organizations, active collaborations with Bay Area universities including the University of San Francisco and UC Berkeley and an active alumni program.
