I left the big city to build an off-grid homestead on 40-acres of wilderness in Canada 🌲🏠🐺 My name is James Alofs and I am a big city human - having grown up in Toronto and spent 10+ years in Los Angeles and Beijing. I am a fish out of water in the wilderness. I prepared for this journey by going on back country camping trips and reading log cabin building books. Sustainable and symbiotic development is a major goal of mine for these 40-acres. I hope to actively manage the land to increase biodiversity and biomass of wildlife. Adapt. Improvise. Overcome.
