UCLG ASPAC, the largest association of Asia-Pacific local governments has linkages to more than 7,000 cities and local governments, and representing well over 3.76 billion people – more than half of the world population – and incorporates economically fast developing countries such as China, India, and Indonesia. It strives to be the key knowledge management hub on local governments issues in the Asia-Pacific region as part of its overall efforts in capacitating local governments in nurturing sustainable development, promoting democratic local government, supporting cooperation between cities, and facilitating programme, network and partnerships. It is also the Secretariat for the GCoM Southeast Asia and host of the ASEAN Mayors Forum, and is involved in many thematic fields such as local economic development, climate change, disaster resiliency, culture, strategic planning, decentralization, municipal finance, gender equality, women leadership and empowerment and good governance.
